In the first instance, during a procedure Mrs C suffered a laceration to her lip from the Defendant’s dental equipment. Mrs C suffered further from several practices of below-standard care from the Defendant, including poor technical execution of root canal treatment and unnecessary bridgework being placed.
The bridgework ultimately failed as the bridge itself was designed poorly and inadequately placed, causing tissue loss that made it more difficult to support further restorative treatment, and increased Mrs C’s risk of periodontal disease.
The inadequate bridgework led to Mrs C suffering from discomfort, difficulty eating, and sustaining the loss and future loss of certain teeth. Mrs C’s successful settlement enables her to access the suitable restorative work required including a new bridge.
