Mr E underwent a procedure for placement of prosthetics, including a bridge and implants, that unbeknownst to him, that were designed and fitted poorly by the Defendant. Mr E also suffered with periodontal issues that went undiagnosed and unmanaged by the Defendant.
The negligently designed and placed prostheses in the first instance caused severe acute infection that rapidly progressed to chronic infection. Mr E was advised he would have to have the implants removed at the earliest opportunity under general anaesthetic at the dental hospital to prevent further deterioration and complications.
The Defendant’s failure to diagnose, treat and monitor Mr E’s periodontal condition attributed to bone loss and subsequent avoidable permanent tooth loss. It took 6 months for Mr E’s gums to stabilise post removal of the implants.
This case was hugely successful, allowing Mr E to pay for the final corrective permanent restorative work to be completed and bringing Mr E closure.
